With the sun up, and shining down, it was no wonder that Matone was wishing she was in a pond swimming. Or under the protective shade of the trees. Or even running! But no, she was here. Walking with a patrol with her mentor, a Sentry and their Tyro. She didn't understand. Why did they have to do a boarder patrol? They were messenger's, not Sentries... They didn't know how to fight. She only knew how to flee. Lot of good that would do her.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, if there had been a chance of running into Kipekee. But there wasn't cause he was missing.... Matone slowed her gait, her father not noticing. But she could see, out of the corner of her eye, that Makini and Chiku had noticed. She flickered her ears and stepped away as they continued walking on. Though not before giving her a questioning look.

She didn't care, and she sat with her head hunched over. She missed Kipekee... They had promised to be together once they were done with their training and Quest. He even said he... He would switch to Crowded Water to be with her. It wasn't fair.

Matone gasped in surprise, as she felt a paw on her shoulder. She looked up to see her father, blind eyes staring into her dark green ones.

"Now's not the time to weep, 'Tone. I know you are missing someone, who might have gone missing." His voice raspy, but soft. The same tone he had used so long ago, back when her mother had died. Of reassurance that everything would turn out to be alright.

"But... But I miss him..." Matone whimpered, though she knew her father was hiding a scowl at hearing how she was missing a male. But his soft expression never changed.

"And I miss Walio and Ari everyday. But I push on. As should you. I'm sure... he, whoever it is, wouldn't want to see you so sad. Right?" Strelka licked her head comfortingly.

Matone blinked with tears running down her face as her father spoke, and she knew. She knew that Kipekee loved it more when she smiled. After a few more moments of thought, she nodded and stood. "Right. C'mon dad, or Makini and Chiku will get to far ahead." She said, and Strelka smiled down at his daughter, hearing the smile in her voice.

"That's my little girl."

"I ain't that little!!"
Matone's assignment. And some father/daughter time. She's missing her Kipekee, but she's going to keep going on! And smile! Cause he likes it when she smiles. He's even said so.
